Three residents of Bulacan may now kiss their hope of having a driver’s license goodbye after they were among the 19 people who were recommended to be barred from getting one after their involvement in motorcycle stunt and illegal racing along a bypass road in San Rafael town.
LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said the case was already submitted for resolution and the disqualification from applying for driver’s license will apply to nine minors who were caught driving the motorcycles in the illegal race with no helmets and other protective gears.
“During the hearing, we found out that none of them are driver’s license holders. This is really a serious case but let this serve as a strong message that we will run after you if you violate road safety rules and regulations,” said Mendoza.
A total of 10 non-minors, aged 18 to 21, were arrested during the operation of the Highway Patrol Group in San Rafael, Bulacan over complaints that the bypass road was being used for motorcycle race and exhibition.
Two of them are holders of student permits while one has expired student permit.
They are facing charges of driving without license, failure to wear the standard protective motorcycle helmet, driving a motor vehicle without a license plate, and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
Also held were nine minors, aged 14 to 17.
Of the 10 non-minors, Mendoza said only six of them appeared before the LTO hearing as four others are still in jail due to their inability to post bail for the cases leveled against them.
During the hearing, the parents and guardians of the minors admitted that they allowed the children to operate the motorcycle since the motor vehicle is their only means of transportation to and from the school.
“Additionally, the motorcycles with no plate attached were identified and were admitted to be unregistered,” said Mendoza.
All respondents in attendance acknowledged and admitted the violations cited in their respective Show Cause Orders (SCOs) and submitted their individual answers and Comments in response to the charges surrounding the incident.
