More than 110 participants composed of alumni, active members and friends competed in the TENS10N: The Homecoming Tournament 2025 held recently at Centro Atletico in Quezon city.
The tournament served as part of the 10th founding anniversary celebration of University of the Philippines Badminton Association in Diliman (UP BadAss) where it aimed to unify the members and its alumni.
Competed in non-gendered doubles events across five playing levels, the tournament also aimed to promote the organization’s core values on competence, commitment and camaraderie.
Winners of this year’s edition were Vinz Bana and Arjay Masilang (Level A), EJ Mallillin and Christian Mondejar (Level B), Harvae De la Cruz and Emmanuel Guarin (Level C), Sean Troy Dizon and Ryuta Suwa (Level D), and Shawn Elizarde and Raven Blanca (Level E).
Raffle prizes that include cash, jerseys, racket strings and a Yonex badminton bag were also given away to participants.
The event is one of the three annual tournaments hosted by UP BadAss, and is usually held at the beginning of each school year.
The UP BadAss Homecoming Tournament was founded in 2024 by Chris Bayubay, with its inaugural event entitled STRINGS: Weaving the Times of UP BadAss.
This year, tournament co-head PJ Ramirez introduced the title TENSION, positioning it as a sequel to last year’s homecoming tournament, STRINGS.
