Unprude returns with Becoming Summit 2025 to spark national conversation on sexual wellness
By MBrand
Following the resounding success of last year’s Unbecoming summit, Unprude returns this year with Becoming: The Philippine Sexual Wellness Summit 2025, a one-day in-person event dedicated to building a sexually informed and respectful society. The summit, scheduled for September 14 at the Podium Hall in Ortigas, is expected to gather more than 1,000 parents, educators, professionals, advocates, and young people.
Led by clinical sexologist Dr. Rica Cruz, Unprude continues its mission to make sexual wellness accessible, evidence-based, and free from shame. This year’s summit advances the dialogue, with a full-day program of workshops, keynote speeches, and panels designed to equip individuals, families, and communities with the tools to talk about sex with clarity, empathy, and confidence.
From Unbecoming to Becoming
The Unbecoming summit in 2024 challenged silence and stigma. This year, Becoming celebrates growth and possibility. It invites participants to explore who they are—
• Becoming curious as children
• Becoming confident as teens
• Becoming compassionate as adults
• Becoming a community committed to a healthier sexual culture
A Full-Day Program for All Ages
The morning begins with five concurrent workshops at 10:30 AM:
• Becoming: A New Voice, a healing space for survivors of sexual assault
• Sacred Somatics with Jellytime, on body awareness and connection
• Becoming Respectful, a teen workshop on setting boundaries
• Becoming Authentic, on rewriting personal stories of sexual shame
• Becoming Open, a real talk guide to consensual non-monogamy
In the afternoon, the summit shifts into plenary sessions beginning with a Welcome Address from Senator Risa Hontiveros, followed by a keynote from Ana Santos of Rappler, titled Risky. Unprotected. Uninformed.
The following panels address today’s most urgent topics in sexual wellness:
• Panel 1: Open Door Policy — How to raise kids who can talk about anything
• Panel 2: It Takes a Village — The role of community in sex education
• Panel 3: The World Needs (More) Good Men — Building healthy masculinity
• Spotlight Talk: HPV awareness and cancer prevention, facilitated by Kindred
• Panel 4: Breaking the Silence — A deep dive into men’s sexual health
•Panel 5: Any Age, Every Stage — Celebrating sexuality across the lifespan
The event concludes with Closing Remarks by Dr. Rica Cruz and a Body Positivity Performance and Networking Reception, showcasing art, music, and community.
A Space for the Whole Family
Recognizing the need for early and age-appropriate education, Becoming features dedicated areas for younger participants:
Kids Zone (with Bebu and The Raya School) provides storytelling, games, and activities on consent and body awareness.
Teens Zone (with Roots of Health and Sinaya Cup) hosts sessions on relationships, menstruation, identity, and respectful communication.
