“Pinaka masakit bilang isang magulang ang maghatid ng anak sa hukay… masakit pero alam ko lahat may purpose si Lord… mahal na mahal ka po namin sobra,” Mr. Baldonado said in a social media post.
CJ was one of the two students who sustained severe head injuries when chunks of concrete reportedly fell from the building’s exterior while they were on their way home from school.
The third student suffered arm injuries and has since been recovering.
The victim’s mother, Carla Baldonado, earlier made a public appeal for medical assistance, saying her son was still fighting despite his critical condition.
Following the incident, the Quezon City government assured the victims’ families of support and pledged to hold accountable those responsible for the tragedy.
“Ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng ating mga mamamayan, lalo na ng ating mga kabataan, ang aming pangunahing hangarin,” the city said in a statement, adding that legal action is being studied against the parties involved.
CJ’s passing has drawn an outpouring of sympathy online, with relatives and friends remembering him as a fighter who held on until his final moments.
