Rider leads authorities on foot pursuit to evade arrest in Tondo
A motorcycle rider initially flagged down by officers of the Department of Transportation-Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) for multiple violations tried to evade the authorities and led them on a foot pursuit in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Based on the report, the SAICT personnel spotted the rider not wearing a helmet and operating a motorcycle wearing slippers during their routine inspection on N. Zamora Street, prompting them to flag him down.
Instead of stopping, the rider tried to evade a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel who flagged him down before tumbling on his motorcycle, nearly hitting a crew cab of a TV network covering the operation. The rider escaped on foot while being chased by the authorities.
He was later apprehended by the townspeople on Juan Luna Street, nearly a kilometer away from N. Zamora Street, and almost got beaten up by them after being mistaken for a robber.
The authorities discovered that aside from operating the motorcycle without a helmet and wearing slippers, the rider also had no driver's license and the vehicle's registration was also expired.
