Marcos to visit Cambodia and New York in September — Palace

President Marcos will travel to Cambodia for a state visit next month before heading to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Malacañang announced.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Aug. 27, Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed that Marcos will be in Cambodia from Sept. 7 to 9.
“Confirmed po na aattend po ang ating Pangulo sa Cambodia sa Sept. 7-9… State Visit (It is confirmed that the President will attend in Cambodia on Sept. 7-9. It will be a State Visit),” she said.
She likewise announced that the President will attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York in late September.
Asked about further details of the two trips, Castro said the Palace would defer to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“Ang detalye po ay ibibigay na lang po ng Department of Foreign Affairs (The details will be provided by the DFA),” Castro said.
The UN General Assembly, which gathers world leaders every September in New York, will open its 80th session on Sept. 9.
The high-level General Debate is scheduled from Sept. 23 to 29.
This would be President Marcos’ second time participating in the UNGA; the first was in 2022.
In his speech at the 2022 UNGA, Marcos reiterated the country's policy that the Philippines is a friend to all and an enemy to none. He likewise expressed confidence that the Philippines will be “moderately prosperous” by 2040.
Meanwhile, the President urged industrialized countries to do their part in resolving climate change issues, noting how the small countries were the ones suffering from its effects.
