Empowering the future through financial literacy and awareness
The Manila Bulletin's third edition of the Sustainability Focus Session will focus on Financial Literacy for a Sustainable Future
As the world becomes increasingly fast-paced and financially demanding, the urgency for practicality and literacy requires immediate action. Many individuals are often exposed to a detrimental mindset about spending, while a minority of consumers develop the competencies and self-control necessary to manage their money effectively.
In the Philippines, only 25% of adults are considered financially literate. This highlights a critical gap in financial education, which is essential for effective money management, budgeting, savings, and investments. Additionally, the financial implications of investments suggest that while short-term conditions may be improving, long-term investments could be declining.
Recognizing these urgent issues, Manila Bulletin continues its active role as a media company that engages platforms for sustainability awareness and discussion.
Last April 2025, the Manila Bulletin Sustainability Focus Session successfully addressed the topic of healthcare, entitled “Envisioning the Future of Healthcare.” It highlighted the current state of healthcare in the Philippines and emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach and solutions for a more sustainable healthcare system. The session was attended by various medical-related courses, aspiring medical practitioners, healthcare professionals, and online viewers.
Now in its third edition, the Manila Bulletin Sustainability Focus Session will shift its attention to financial literacy for a sustainable future, which also aligns with SDG Focus 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). This topic will explore different sectors and initiatives that can help individuals promote financial sustainability. It will also highlight the problems and solutions for present and future generations,
The event will be held on September 17, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the Henry Sy Sr. Hall of De La Salle University, featuring different advisors and owners of financial brands.
