Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific is expanding the domestic connectivity of its Cebu hub, with the launch of direct flights to El Nido, Palawan, beginning in October.
Starting Oct. 26, the Gokongwei-led airline said it will operate daily flights between Cebu and El Nido.
These flights will be operated by Cebu Pacific’s regional unit Cebgo, which operates an all-turboprop fleet out of Cebu.
The new route will complement the direct flights currently operated by its boutique subsidiary, AirSWIFT.
Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao said Palawan is among the most popular beach destinations among travelers from Cebu and the broader Central Visayas.
El Nido, in particular, is beloved by many driven by the beauty of its iconic lagoons, limestone cliffs, and beaches.
“El Nido has long been one of the country’s most sought-after destinations, and soon it will be more accessible to those flying from Cebu and nearby provinces,” said Lao in a statement.
“By adding this route ahead of the holiday season, we are not only strengthening inter-island connectivity but also creating more opportunities for every Juan to discover the best of the Philippines,” he added.
Cebu Pacific’s new direct flight to El Nido will be the fourth destination in Palawan available for passengers in Cebu.
From Cebu, tourists can fly directly to Coron (Busuanga), Port Barton (San Vicente), and Puerto Princesa.
Last week, Cebu Pacific announced that it will mount Airbus A330neo flights to Puerto Princesa, alongside Iloilo and Bohol, to meet the strong demand over the holiday season.
The airline will deploy the 459-seater wide-body aircraft for Manila-Puerto Princesa starting Nov. 2, with a flight schedule of four times a week.
Also starting Oct. 26, Cebu Pacific will launch daily flights between Manila and Iloilo.
The Manila-Bohol route will also operate daily, commencing on Nov. 16.
Cebu Pacific typically uses its A330neo for major international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, as well as in-demand areas such as Cebu, Davao, and General Santos.
Expanding the operations of its wide-body aircraft will allow the airline to make more seats available during periods of strong travel demand, while still keeping fares low for passengers due to its cost efficiency.
With 100 aircraft in its fleet, Cebu Pacific currently operates to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations.
