When it came to everyday comfort, few investments mattered more than quality linens, towels, and pillows. These were the pieces people spent the most time with, so choosing well made all the difference. At the recent “Legacy and Dreams” tradeshow held from August 13 and 14, 2025, at the Sheraton Manila Hotel in Pasay City, Classic Characters Inc. and New Creation Manufacturing put Filipino-made craftsmanship in the spotlight, showcasing premium essentials designed to elevate daily living.
Now in its 17th year, the tradeshow highlighted more than six decades of heritage, design innovation, and sustainable manufacturing, drawing top clients from hotels, hospitals, retail chains, distributors, and e-commerce platforms. Classic Characters Inc., known for its Canadian, Lifestyle, and Modern Linen lines; and New Creation Manufacturing, a homegrown leader in apparel for babies, children, and women; led the showcase with a diverse portfolio that reflected the strength of Filipino brands.
The event featured products from a portfolio built over 66 years, spanning linens, bed linens, bedding, and certified babywear. It also marked the launch of a pet line, offering clothing and beds for fur babies to enjoy. Guests explored this diverse showcase through interactive booths that let them test pillows, inspect premium weaves, admire germ-resistant babywear in a dollhouse-inspired setup, and take eco-pledge Polaroids in support of sustainable textiles.

Chand Daryanani, president of Classic Characters Inc., shared how fascinating it was to see the evolution of the bedding products they had offered, from the 1950s to today.
"In 2025, I would consider the Philippines one of the most particular countries when it comes to home and interior decor. It's very interesting to see the evolution not only of our brand, but also how it has evolved with Filipinos themselves. That's the beauty of what we see here in an event like this, and why it is called Legacy and Dreams," says Daryanani.
Weaving a greener future
New Creation Manufacturing and Classic Characters Inc. started in 1959 when founder Hiro Asandas introduced bed linens to Filipino homes. The business later expanded with the Hello Dolly babywear brand in the 1980s, followed by ladieswear, petwear, and lifestyle textiles.

Now run by the second and third generations, the company continued to serve households and institutions nationwide. Its Canadian Manufacturing division supplied linens, towels, and pillows to leading hotels, hospitals, and retail chains. The companies proved that quality and sustainability could go together. From linens to babywear and now pet products, their legacy continued with a focus on innovation and eco-friendly practices, delivering essentials that lasted while caring for both people and the planet.
Sustainability drove much of its growth. “To sustain the legacy built by our founder, we must keep moving forward through innovation. We continue to invest in technology, enhance our production capabilities, and explore new sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients while protecting the planet.” said Daryanani.
Recent efforts included using solar-powered facilities, developing eco-friendly fabrics like organic, bamboo, and Tencel, and securing OEKO-TEX certification to guarantee products were free from harmful substances. The reintroduction of Hello Dolly’s Sanitized babywear line also reinforced this commitment, showing how the company’s heritage was firmly tied to building a safer, more sustainable future.
