Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso called out a cement mixer truck operator caught disposing its loaded cement into a river on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
According to the city government, Domagoso was on his way to Balagtas in Pandacan as part of his city inspection routine when he spotted the truck, prompting him to immediately stop it.
The mayor subsequently ordered the truck's operator to report to the city government and submit its permit and other necessary documents to prove that its operation is legal.
Meanwhile, the city's Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) confiscated the vehicle while investigation is ongoing.
"Akala ng mga tolongges, porke holiday, wala nang gobyerno sa Maynila? Sinabi ko na sa inyo, huwag ninyong susubukan ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila dahil may kalalagyan talaga kayo (Those doing misdeeds in the city thought that just because it's a holiday, there's no government in Manila? I'm telling you, do not challenge the city government of Manila because you will get what you deserve)," Domagoso said.
The mayor added that the city government continues to enforce its environmental protection regulations to ensure cleanliness and order in the city, as well as its daily cleaning, flushing, and declogging operations to prevent flooding.
