Man arrested 4 hours after stealing motorcycle in Quezon City
Police arrested a robbery suspect and recovered a stolen motorcycle just four hours after it was reported missing in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, on Monday, August 25.
According to the police report, the incident occurred at around 1:56 a.m. when the victim, a barangay official, parked a motorcycle on Sampaguita Street to buy food. Upon returning, he discovered the vehicle had been stolen.
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage showed three suspects arriving in a white taxi. One tampered with the ignition of the motorcycle while the others acted as lookouts before fleeing toward Luzon Avenue.
The theft was reported to Holy Spirit Police Station 14 at around 11 a.m.
A pursuit operation led to the arrest of alias “Joey,” 45, a taxi driver, at around 3 p.m.
Based on information provided by the suspect, authorities recovered the stolen motorcycle on Magnolia Street in Barangay Sangandaan. However, several parts had already been stripped. Two other suspects escaped and remain at large.
Charges for violation of the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 have been filed against the arrested suspect, who was previously charged with drug-related offenses and reckless imprudence.
Follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
