ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Land Transportation Office has suspended the driver’s license of an official based in Zamboanga Peninsula following a crash involving an agency vehicle that went viral on social media.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said a show-cause order was issued to the LTO official who is assigned to the Human Resource and Management Office of the LTO Regional Office-9.
The official, who was not identified, was instructed to surrender his driver’s license to LTO-9 Regional Director Roderick Minong.
Initial investigation showed that the LTO official was driving a pickup truck at high speed from Pagadian to Zamboanga City when it crashed into a swamp in Imelda town, Zamboanga Sibugay province.
A video of the vehicle after the crash went viral on social media.
The official faces reckless driving and being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle charges, both of which have a penalty of revocation of driver’s license.
He might also face administrative charges, said a statement of the LTO on social media.
