The Caloocan City government has placed its disaster response teams on alert on Tuesday, Aug. 26, as part of precautionary measures amid inclement weather conditions.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said the city’s rescue equipment and evacuation centers have been prepared in case of flooding or other emergencies.
“Mga Batang Kankaloo, maaga po tayong pumunta sa city hall ngayong araw dahil, kahit mukhang hindi tutuloy ang pag-ulan, pinahanda po natin ang ating mga kagamitan sa pang-rescue sakaling kailanganin (Batang Kankaloo, we went to city hall early today to make sure our rescue equipment is ready, even if the rains appear to ease. This is to ensure that we can respond right away if the need arises),” he said.
He added that a skeletal workforce has been deployed at the City Hall to assist residents with urgent documents such as burial permits, marriage licenses, and birth and death certificates.
Malapitan assured that the city government will continue monitoring the situation and extend immediate assistance when necessary.
Residents were advised to contact the city’s emergency hotlines at (02) 888-25664 or 0908-81-25664 for urgent concerns.
