TACLOBAN CITY – Around 20 people were trapped between two landslide sites in Barangay Candelaria, Matag-ob, Leyte, Monday night.
Responders were able to secure passengers of a mini-bus struck by a fallen tree as a result of the landslide due to continuous rains in the municipality.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of neighboring town Palompon, Leyte also assisted in the extraction and transport of the affected persons back to Palompon.
No casualties were reported in the landslides.
Mayor Bernie Tacoy said the area going to Palompon is currently impassable to all types of vehicles due to the landslides.
The area remains unsafe for passage until clearing and stabilization are completed.
He advised avoiding the area and taking alternate routes in Villaba and other municipalities.
The local chief executive urged residents to remain vigilant and preemptively evacuate, especially those living in flood-prone areas.
