Palace suspends work, classes in NCR, provinces on Aug. 26 due to heavy rains
Malacañang has ordered the suspension of work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region (NCR) and several provinces on Tuesday, Aug. 26, citing heavy rains expected from a low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon.

Based on Memorandum Circular No. 94-A, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, the move was recommended by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) due to the forecasted heavy rainfall that will be brought about by the low-pressure area and the Southwest Monsoon.
The class and government work suspension order covers:
- Metro Manila
- Aurora
- Bulacan
- Pampanga
- Nueva Ecija
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Laguna
- Quezon Province
- Rizal
- Laguna
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Catanduanes
- Masbate
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
Bersamin clarified that agencies involved in disaster response, basic services, and health care will continue to operate, while local government units outside the covered areas may decide on their own suspensions depending on their local weather conditions.
For private companies and offices, the Palace left the suspension of work to the discretion of management, reminding the public to remain vigilant and prioritize safety during the expected rains.
