May sunog sa kampo! PNP General Hospital struck by fire, explosion heard

Panic gripped police personnel when an hour-long fire broke out at the Philippine National Police General Hospital (PNPGH) inside the National Police Headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Sunday night, Aug. 24.
A report from the PNP said the blaze occurred at the PNPGH Compound located between the Specialty Ward and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) around 10:20 p.m.
Police Captain Carlo Jayson Turqueza, of the PNP Health Service, said a loud explosion was heard moments after the fire began.
The incident was immediately reported to the Base Fire Section (PNP BFS) Emergency which prompted immediate response from its personnel, led by officer-in-charge Police Lt. Wally Ocde.
Additional firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection Quezon City Fire Department (BFP-QCFD) reinforced the troops. Even PNP Chief Police Gen. Nicolas Torre III was reportedly seen monitoring the incident.
The fire was placed under control at 10:50 p.m. and declared out at 11:19 p.m., according to Fire Inspector Mary Grace Peralta, of the BFP QCFD.
Despite the panic, no one was hurt during the incident.
An investigation was conducted to determine the cause of fire and the estimated amount of damage to properties.
