Man slays uncle over land dispute

BACOLOD CITY – A 26-year-old man hacked his 44-year-old uncle to death over a land dispute in Purok 5, Barangay Basak, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Police Lt. Col. Lowell Garinganao, Cauayan town police chief, said the victim was drinking coconut wine in a relative’s house when his nephew passed by and confronted him over a disputed farm lot.
The suspect pulled out a bolo and hacked his uncle on the nape.
Police arrested the suspect and homicide charges will be filed against him.
The property had been a source of conflict between the two for some time, police said.
