An unidentified woman’s body was found floating in the Pasig River near the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) docking area at Muelle de Industria, Parola, San Nicolas, Manila, on the morning of Saturday, August 23.
According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the discovery was made around 11:30 a.m. by a tugboat captain from Zamboanga del Norte.
While stationed on his boat, the captain spotted the body drifting in the water and immediately alerted the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), who quickly responded and retrieved the body from the river.
The woman’s remains have been transferred to a funeral home, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Authorities stated that they will be coordinating with barangay officials and residents to help identify the woman and investigate whether foul play was involved.
