PDEA: P101.70 M worth of illegal drugs seized in week-long nationwide operations

A total of P101.70 million worth of illegal drugs were seized following the arrest of 122 drug suspects during the Aug. 15 to 22 nationwide anti-illegal drugs operations, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
In a statement, the PDEA said the figure was based on the latest weekly anti-illegal drug accomplishment report of the PDEA and its partner law enforcement agencies.
PDEA data revealed that a total of 14,003.02 grams of shabu, 36,360.43 grams of dried marijuana leaves and 8,040 marijuana plants were confiscated.
The PDEA disclosed that in Region 4-A, government anti-narcotics agents seized 14,281.58 grams of marijuana dried leaves and 201.88 grams of marijuana oil in the said time frame.
It added that in the Bicol Region one kilo of shabu was seized while 7,000 marijuana plants were destroyed and 21,066.84 grams of marijuana dried leaves were seized.
In Central Visayas, the PDEA noted that a total of 1,020 grams of shabu were confiscated while four kilograms of shabu were confiscated in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
During the interdiction operation in Metro Manila, the PDEA stated that seven kilograms of shabu was seized and another kilo of shabu was confiscated in a separate operation.
PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez said the seized illegal drugs represent a substantial disruption to the supply chain of illegal drugs in the country.
