K-pop boy band GOT7 member Yugyeom, 27, will be enlisting in the Korean military next month, his agency announced.
“First, we would like to express our gratitude to all the fans who have shown love for our artist, Yugyeom. We would like to inform you about Yugyeom's military enlistment,” agency AOMG said on Aug. 23.
AOMG said Yugyeom will enlist on Sept. 29.
“Yugyeom recently received final approval from the Military Manpower Administration for the ‘Specialist Soldier’ position. Accordingly, Yugyeom will enlist on September 29 to fulfill his mandatory military service. After completing basic military training, he will serve in the Army Band,” the agency said.
It added, “As the enlistment ceremony will be attended by many soldiers and their families, in addition to Yugyeom, the schedule and location will not be disclosed to prevent safety issues due to crowding. We therefore ask that you refrain from attending the ceremony, and please also note that no separate events will be held on the day of Yugyeom's enlistment.”
“We ask for your continued support and encouragement for Yugyeom as he faithfully completes his military service and returns. AOMG will also continue to provide unwavering support and encouragement during his military service,” it said.
Yugyeom also announced his military service on Instagram.
"To our Ahgase, who have been with us for 12 years, I wanted to tell you first that you I will take care of myself, stay healthy, and do well in the military for our country. I will definitely return safely, so Ahgase, please stay healthy, eat well, and do well," he said.
Yugyeom will be discharged from the military on March 28, 2027.
