The Bossing completed a 3-0 sweep of their assignments following a 93-91 victory over Converge while the Road Warriors downed Phoenix, 100-96, to place second with a 2-1 record.
Sedrick Barefield took charge in the endgame for Blackwater, drilling a clutch three-pointer and sealing the win with three free throws to give the Bossing the much-needed separation after an 87-all deadlock with 1:59 remaining.
He finished with 26 points and seven rebounds while RK Ilagan put together another splendid showing of 16 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and five assists.
BJ Andrade contributed 14 points off the bench while Troy Malilin added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Not to be outdone though was Robert Bolick of NLEX, who fired 27 points built on five triples.
Bolick got ample support from JB Bahio, who contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, and Xyrus Torres Anthony Semerad, who chipped in 14 and 12 points, respectively.
In the preliminary round, Blackwater overcame a huge 17-point deficit to take down NLEX, 95-90 last Friday, Aug. 22.
Phoenix and Converge, on the other hand, battle for the third place.
Alec Stockton had 19 points, while Justine Baltazar added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Blackwater.
Tyler Tio led Phoenix scorers with 14 points as they remained winless through the tournament following the defeat at the hands of NLEX.
