Brian Poe takes quick break from House to celebrate FPJ's 86th birth anniversary

FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Rep. Brian Poe took time off from his busy schedule in the House budget hearings last Aug. 20 to visit his late grandfather Fernando Poe Jr.'s (FPJ) tomb at the Manila North Cemetery on the occasion of the latter's 86th birth anniversary.
In keeping up with Poe family tradition, Rep. Poe left flowers for FPJ at the Poe family mausoleum.
Like in previous yeaers, Rep. Poe and the FPJ Youth volunteer group shared meals with the hundreds of supporters who also came to visit FPJ.
He would later write in a Facebook post, "Happy 86th Birthday, Papa Ronnie! I wouldn’t let this day pass without visiting him and giving back to his supporters and the kids."
Born Ronald Allen Kelley Poe, FPJ was a cultural icon in Philippine cinema. His career spanner five decades. Known as "Da King" (The King of Philippine Movies) he was posthumously named National Artist for Film two years after his death in 2006.
FPJ traces his roots to San Carlos, Pangasinan. According to Poe, it gives him great pride to be identified by his fellow House member as a San Carlos native.
“Nakakataba ng puso dahil, pag nakikita ako ng mga kasama ko sa Congress sinasabi po nila, ‘Ayan si congressman Brian Poe, taga San Carlos yan,'” Rep. Poe said.
The "House Hotshots" member thanked his supporters especially those who came from his home province.
“Dahil sa inyo, nagkaroon ako ng pagkakataon ituloy ang legasiya ni FPJ (Because of you, I gained the opportunity to continue FPJ's legacy)," said the neophyte congressman.
FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list is the only party-list based in Pangasinan that won a seat in the House of Representatives during the 2025 midterm polls. It garnered more than 50,000 votes from the province and over 500,000 votes nationwide.
Rep. Poe has advocated for stronger agricultural programs for Pangasinan in the ongoing House deliberations on the P6.793-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for 2026, or proposed national budget.
