BUTUAN CITY – A 15-year-old boy allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother after she refused to give him food in Plaridel town, Misamis Occidental province on Friday, Aug. 15, police reported Friday, Aug. 22.
Initial investigation conducted by the Plaridel Municipal Police Station disclosed that the suspect arrived at their house at 6 pm. on Friday and asked his mother for food but she allegedly refused.
“The suspect punched the victim and banged her head on the floor, causing her to lose consciousness,” police said.
The suspect dragged the victim to their room, which contained various belongings and wrapped her head.
The suspect cleaned the blood stains on the floor and left their house at 7 p.m. the same day.
The gruesome crime was only discovered at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, five days after neighbors noticed foul smell from the victim’s house.
A follow-up investigation and pursuit operation against the suspect led to his voluntary surrender to the Plaridel MPS at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police found the decomposing body of the victim hidden under a bed.
“Investigation is still ongoing,” Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office (PRO 10-RPIO) chief Police Major Joan G. Navarro said.
Police are coordinating with the local Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office on the suspect.
The Plaridel MPS is pursuing appropriate charges against suspect as investigations continue, Navarro added.
The victim's neighbors expressed shock and grief over the incident.
