This is Cavite 4th district Rep. Francis "Kiko" Barzaga's simple but sensible suggestion to curb Filipinos' gambling vice.
"Gambling is a big problem in our country, I propose a law that prohibits individuals that regularly receive government financial assistance from participating in gambling activities," the self-proclaimed "congressmeow" wrote in Facebook post Friday, Aug.22.
Barzaga was probably moved by recent headlines regarding gambling, and as a result wanted to help temper the societal ill.
It remains to be seen if the neophyte solon from Dasmariñas City follows through by filing an actual bill with specific mechanisms for such prohibition.
Less-fortunate Filipinos can avail themselves of various ayuda, the most prominent of which is the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
