Nasser takes flight with new original single 'Pasayo'
Singer-composer Nasser returns with a heartfelt original single, “Pasayo”, under Curve Entertainment. Known for his soulful covers and viral hits, Nasser takes a bold step forward in his career, reaffirming that he is not just a balladeer but a genuine songwriter with something deeply personal to say.
Fresh from attending TikTok’s Community Fest in Vietnam, where he received an award for ranking Number 1 in one of the regional categories, joining top creators from across Southeast Asia, Nasser carries the same energy and passion into this new release.
The title “Pasayo” is derived from “papunta sayo” or “towards you,” and captures the song’s central message: an unwavering willingness to cross any distance for someone you love, whether in joy, pain, or uncertainty. “It’s about commitment and presence,” Nasser shares.
“Living in Singapore as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), I know the feeling of wanting to fly towards someone you care about, be it family, friends, or a partner, just to be there when it matters.”
Musically, “Pasayo” blends tenderness and soaring optimism. The track carries a “malambing” yet uplifting tone, swelling to an emotional high in the chorus with the central word “lipad” (fly), symbolizing love’s ability to lift and inspire. Nasser recorded the track with producer Marlon Silva, who pushed him beyond his comfort zone to deliver a vocal performance that feels elevated and liberating. Influences range from boyband-style harmonies to Mariah Carey-inspired runs, adding depth and dynamic flair.
Nasser’s musical path is as unique as his sound. A BS Pharmacy graduate from the University of Santo Tomas, he initially set aside the idea of pursuing music professionally. But as the resident singer-balladeer of the UST Faculty of Pharmacy, he discovered the power of his evolving baritone voice, eventually earning a scholarship. Signed to Curve Entertainment, he released Right Time in 2021, an album featuring his most popular covers and his original composition Tamang Panahon. His rendition of Jim Brickman’s Your Love remains his biggest hit to date.
Balancing life as an OFW in Singapore and as a recording artist has not been easy, but Nasser’s passion for music continues to drive him. “I’m enjoying my life here, but there’s a ‘call’ that never goes away,” he says. “I’m not closing off the possibility of going full-time into music.”
For Nasser, “Pasayo” transcends romantic love. “It’s a universal promise,” he explains. “Whether for a partner, a friend, or family, love has the power to heal, uplift, and unite. Sometimes, all someone needs is for you to come closer, to fly pasayo, and show them they are truly loved.”
“Pasayo” is now available in all major streaming platforms worldwide.
