BACOLOD CITY – A 28-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her jealous husband during a heated argument in Sitio Batang, Barangay T-Hill, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental police, the couple had a history of marital disputes and had reached an agreement, with the help of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), that the victim would either seek her husband’s permission or be accompanied by him whenever she leaves their home.
However, tensions escalated that day after the 31-year-old suspect lost sight of his wife when they visited the market, triggering a confrontation where the suspect got a knife and stabbed the victim until she died.
The suspect, accompanied by a barangay tanod, surrendered to authorities.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Police said the victim was away for two months and recently returned home.
Jealousy was suspected to be the motive but there was no confirmation of any extramarital affair, police said.
