The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is proposing to launch a new numbers game wherein a winner may take home a cash prize of not less than P1 billion.
During Wednesday's House Committee on Appropriations hearing on the P6.793-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP), officials from the state-controlled corporation told lawmakers that the agency was set to come up with a new game called "Lotto Bilyonaryo", with a minimum bet of P100.
The new game is expected to generate more revenue for the PCSO and will complement the existing Lotto and Small Town Lottery (STL).
"Meron po kaming inaasahan na i-la-launch na another variants sa ating lotto, 'yun po 'yung Lotto Bilyonaryo (We are expecting to launch a new variant of Lotto, which is called Lotto Bilyonaryo). At P100 bet, initial winning is P1 billion. So that's one," PCSO Chairperson Felix Reyes said.
Reyes, who already told the Senate about its proposal as early as September 2024, made the remark after House members asked PCSO regarding its plan to boost its income to help more Filipinos seeking medical assistance from its office.
"We are also in the process of entertaining new games, na hindi po sakop ng Pagcor (that is not covered by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation). It's a new game, but it's involving lottery," he added.
But Reyes says PCSO is still waiting for the approval of the Office of the President (OP) before launching the new game.
