AC Health partners with Sugi to distribute high-quality Japanese wellness, pharmacy products

Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health), through AC Health Pharma, has forged a strategic partnership with one of the largest pharmacy groups in Asia, Sugi Holdings, to bring Japan’s high-quality and novel pharmacy products to the Philippines.
In a statement, AC Health noted that Sugi Holdings is one of Japan’s largest and most respected drugstore chains, operating approximately 2,300 stores nationwide under the Sugi Pharmacy brand.
Known for its wide selection of wellness and pharmaceutical products—including a strong portfolio of house brand items—Sugi has also made its products available in other parts of Asia, including Taiwan, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Marking Sugi’s first formal collaboration in the Philippines, the partnership aims to give Filipino consumers access to Sugi’s trusted house brands and innovative wellness solutions.
As such, Sugi’s products will soon be available in AC Health Pharma’s more than 800 pharmacies across St. Joseph Drug and Generika Drugstore nationwide.
“We feel truly fortunate to have met a partner here that we can trust from the bottom of our hearts,” said Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, director and chief executive officer (CEO) of S. Trading Co. Ltd., Sugi’s overseas trading company.
He added that, “With AC Health, I honestly believe we have found the best partners in the Philippines because we want people to enjoy our high-quality and affordable Japanese products.”
With this collaboration, AC Health Pharma strengthens its position as the partner of choice in the Philippines for leading regional players.
By expanding its portfolio through trusted global alliances, the group is accelerating access to a broader range of innovative and high-quality healthcare products that meet the evolving needs of the Filipino market.
“This partnership allows us to bring Japanese-quality healthcare innovations closer to Filipino consumers at a time when the demand for trusted and differentiated wellness options continues to grow,” said AC Health Pharma President and CEO Josette Adrienne A. Abarca.
This alliance reinforces AC Health Pharma’s strategy to align with best-in-class regional players and elevate the quality and diversity of healthcare products available in the Philippines—powered by one of Japan’s most established and trusted pharmacy groups.
“Our partnership with Sugi Holdings reflects a shared ambition to make high-quality healthcare products more accessible to Filipino families,” said AC Health President and CEO Paolo Borromeo.
He noted that, “As we continue to build a comprehensive health ecosystem, collaborations like this enable us to offer more trusted options and deliver better health outcomes across the country.”
Earlier this month, AC Health entered into a strategic alliance with Glorious Dexa Mandaya Philippines, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s Dexa Group, aimed at strengthening the delivery of affordable, high-quality medicines for Filipinos.
Ayala said the partnership will focus on the distribution of affordable medicines and other medical products developed by Dexa Group.
