Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested a total of 220 people in a 24-hour crackdown against drug pushers, wanted persons and even violators of local ordinances in Metro Manila.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said the operations started at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, and targeted people involved in illegal drugs, illegal gambling and those who possess loose guns, adding that the operations also focused on wanted persons and violations of local ordinances.
He said a total of 45 individuals were apprehended in drug-related operations and in a follow-up operation in Parañaque City, four more people were collared after they yielded around P2 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust in Barangay San Dionisio.
On the other hand, 44 others were caught engaging in illegal gambling.
Earlier, the NCRPO reported that it arrested a total of 918 people engaged in illegal gambling from Aug. 1 to 15.
Police units also arrested 61 wanted persons composed of Top Ten Most Wanted, Most Wanted, and Other Wanted Persons, while three suspects were nabbed in operations involving loose firearms.
A total of 67 other offenders were also arrested through immediate police response and for various violations.
“With these accomplishments, we were able to show a clear direction in pursuing lawbreakers, curbing crime, dismantling illegal operations, removing loose firearms, and instilling discipline in communities,” said Aberin.
“We will continue to uphold accountable, united, and service-driven policing that keeps Metro Manila secure and its people protected,” he added.
