BUTUAN CITY – Police recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested a 16-year-old suspected carnapper in Misamis Oriental on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office (PRO 10-RPIO) chief Police Major Joan G. Navarro said the vehicle owner reported to the Binuangan, Misamis Oriental Municipal Police Station (MPS) that his white multicab pickup parked on a bridge was missing.
Information was relayed to adjacent police stations and at around 7:30 a.m., patrolling personnel of the Talisayan, Misamis Oriental MPS spotted a vehicle matching the description on the national highway.
Police found a 16-year-old male minor from Butuan City inside the vehicle who failed to present any documents of ownership.
The minor was apprehended and the vehicle owner, accompanied by the Binuangan MPS, positively identified the pickup as his.
The minor and the vehicle are now under the custody of Binuangan MPS for proper disposition.
“A case for violation of R.A. 10883 (The New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) will be filed against the suspect,” Navarro said.
