CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The body of a crew of a fast craft vessel plying the Batangas-Mindoro route was discovered early Thursday morning, Aug. 21, in the vicinity of the city port.

The victim was identified as Cyril Quingco, 25, a resident of Buluangan, Valderrama, Antique and a cadet of fast craft vessel MV Ocean Jet 5 docked at the pier.
The Philippine National Police Maritime Group 4-B Calapan Maritime Monitoring Team received information from a concerned citizen that a body has been found in the area.
The MMT joined the Philippine Coast Guard in the retrieval operation.
Initial investigation disclosed that a co-worker found the victim’s body floating on the sea.
The victim’s body was brought to Funeraria Naujan in Barangay San Rafael while awaiting his family’s decision on an autopsy.
Witnesses said the victim and co-workers had a drinking session the night before his body was found.
