Why La Beauté Louis Vuitton is the most anticipated beauty launch of 2025
Louis Vuitton has long been synonymous with luxury. From iconic trunks that defined the golden age of travel to the runway collections that continue to influence today’s fashion, the Maison has mastered the art of creating objects of desire. Now, it starts a new chapter in the world of makeup.
This season, the brand officially unveils La Beauté Louis Vuitton, its first modern makeup line. And as expected, it’s glamorous, collectible, and covetable. Here are 10 things about one of the most anticipated beauty launches of the year.
1. Pat McGrath is the new creative director.
With three decades of creating enthralling makeup looks, Pat McGrath takes on the role of Creative Director of Cosmetics under La Beauté. She is also the first British makeup artist of Jamaican descent to lead beauty for a French luxury house.
“Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity and innovation. The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”
2. Heritage in your hands.
Inspired by Louis Vuitton’s rich history of craftsmanship, each piece is designed to feel like a treasured heirloom—made not just to be worn, but to travel with you, anytime and anywhere.
3. 55 Rouge lipstick shades at USD 160 each.
For the very first release of the Rouge collection, an extensive range of 55 lipstick shades, comprised of 27 creamy satin and 28 velvet mattes. Each of them boasts of 85 percent skincare with natural waxes, shea butter, and hyaluronic acid that delivers eight-hour vivid wear and 12-hour hydration.
“Lipstick is presence. It’s a signature in a single stroke. It’s how women carry themselves in the world.”
4. 10 Baume balms released at USD 160 each.
For those who prefer a more lightweight finish, the LV Baume collection offers 48-hour hydration with a sheer, luminous tint. Enriched with shea butter and hyaluronic acid, these balms add shine and deeply nourish. With continued use, lips are left visibly smoother, softer, and beautifully revitalizes.
5. Eight Ombres eyeshadow palettes at USD 260 each.
Each LV Ombres palette features four thoughtfully curated shades—a trio of wearable neutrals paired with one bold accent color. With finishes ranging from soft matte to gleaming glitter, the palettes are designed for versatility, whether you're creating subtle daytime looks or statement evening glam. Pat McGrath infused each formula with serious performance power: ultra-pure Pigment Originals for intense color payoff, plant-derived squalane for seamless blending, Camelina flower oil extract for a skin-like finish, and Light-Up Technology that enhances shine with every swipe.
6. Fragrance-infused lipsticks
Another exclusive collaboration, this time with LV master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, each Rouge Lipstick carries a combination of mimosa, jasmine, and rose scents. Baume Balms is injected with a fresh mint raspberry scent.
"Unlike traditional perfumes built on alcohol, this base had to work in wax and oil. Technically, it's far more complex. But with natural ingredients of the highest quality, we created a scent that lingers softly and elevates the entire ritual. It took us four years to get right and is something I’m very proud of,” shares Jacques Cavallier Belletrud.
7. Start with the icons.
Choosing your first LV lipstick can be overwhelming. Some suggestions are the 896 Monogram Rouge, which is a deep red brown inspired by Louis Vuitton’s classic Monogram canvas and classic red lips. For something softer but equally iconic, try the 051 Monogram Touch from the Baume line—a sheer, burgundy brown tint made for everyday wear.
8. Designed for keeps and refills.
All three categories — lipsticks and balms at USD70 each, and eyeshadows at USD 95 each— are refillable and thoughtfully designed by renowned industrial designer Konstantin Grcic. Designed with aluminum and brass, each piece feels luxurious and is built to last. The color names are engraved directly onto the lipstick refills for effortless shade selection, while a clever floral motif locking system adds a feminine touch so that refills fit seamlessly into these modern heirloom cases.
"This isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about creating make-up that is functional, refillable, and worthy of being kept for years to come,” says Konstantin Grcic. "Our approach was about delivering on longevity and quality, while staying true to our sustainable commitments and convictions. These are pieces meant to live with you, to be kept, treasured, and used again and again."
9. Encased in luxury.
Of course, vanity trunks and lipstick pouches are also available—all inspired by the house’s historic travel luggage. Just like all our everyday essentials, these beauty essentials deserve to be encased in luxurious packaging. Choose from a range of small leather goods, including the iconic Monogram canvas pouches and miniature vanities.
Limited edition lipstick pouches and beauty cases are set to be released. Available in three shades of Monogram Rouge, Rouge Louis, and Tender Bliss.
