After decades of waiting, Mayor Vico Sotto announced that more than 600 families in Ismar, Kalawaan in Pasig City, are set to secure land rights through a lease-purchase agreement.
On Wednesday, Aug. 20, Sotto said, “Sa mga taga-Ismar, pagkatapos ng ilang dekada, sa inyo na po ang lupa (For the residents of Ismar, after several decades, the land is finally yours).”

The mayor reminded them of their agreement and their responsibilities to take care of their land, including paying the affordable installments as stated in the contract.
He added that while the local government will provide assistance, such as free surveys, the land will not be given for free to ensure fairness to all taxpayers.
“May mga tulong ang LGU gaya ng libreng survey, pero hindi po pwedeng libre ang lupa (The LGU will provide assistance such as free surveys, but the land cannot be given for free... To be fair to all taxpayers and residents of Pasig,” Sotto explained.
In addition, he said that structures extending beyond property boundaries or encroaching on road lots will have to be removed to ensure safety and order in the community.
“Mula ngayon, susundin natin at hindi tayo lalampas sa mga linya ng bawat lote rito (From now on, we will follow and stay within the boundaries of each lot),” Sotto said.
“Para sa iilan na nag-encroach, bibigyan kayo ng LGU ng konting panahon para gawin ito ng kusakusa; makikipag-ugnayan po ang PUSO sa inyo (For those who have encroached, the LGU will give you some time to voluntarily make the adjustments, with the Pasig Urban Settlements Office (PUSO) coordinating with you),” he added.
Sotto vowed to work together with the community and resolve the issues before his term ends.
