To ensure a smooth and safe celebration of the Solemn Declaration of the National Shrine of the Our Lady of Aranzuzu, classes in both public and private schools in San Mateo are suspended on August 22.
The San Mateo municipal government said Acting Municipal Mayor Mary Grace Diaz signed Proclamation No. 01, Series of 2025, declaring the suspension of classes in all levels of both public and private schools in the entire municipality on Friday, August 22.
The suspension, according to the local government’s issuance, aims to minimize the risk to the health and safety of students, teachers, and the school’s personnel, and the community as a whole, as heavy traffic is expected due to the influx of participants and vehicles.
Meanwhile, the municipal government will implement a traffic rerouting and road closure starting at 10 p.m. on August 21 as part of the measures to accommodate the expected large turnout of devotees, and visitors, attending the Friday event.
A portion of General Luna and M.H. Del Pilar near the shrine will be closed to traffic while Daang Bakal Road and C-6 Bypass Road and Kambal Road will serve as alternate routes for motorists going to Rodriguez or Marikina and vice-versa.
The road closure and rerouting scheme will be enforced from 10 p.m. on August 21, Thursday until 2 p.m. on August 22, Friday.
