Manila gov't extends health certificate validity to one year — Mayor Isko
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced on Wednesday, Aug. 20, that health certificates issued in the city will now be valid for one year, replacing the previous policy under which all certificates expired on Dec. 31 of the year they were issued.
Domagoso made the move following his meeting with 150 fast food managers at the city hall where they raised their concerns and grievances to the city government.
The mayor explained that the new system would spare workers and business owners from having to renew certificates prematurely.
This will also streamline health and business-related transactions while reducing unnecessary costs and inconvenience for residents.
“Kapag inissuehan ka ng health certificate (Once you've been issued with a health certificate), and if it is valid for one year, no matter what month you acquired, it will not expire on Dec. 31 — it will be expiring on the day, one year after the issuance,” he noted.
Domagoso had earlier met with the fast food officials to tackle the city's ongoing initiatives aimed at expanding employment opportunities for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), improving customer service, and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors.
He also discussed the implementation of City Ordinance No. 8598, which mandates fast food companies operating in Manila to hire senior citizens and PWDs.
"The program seeks to open more job opportunities, enhance the quality of service in the city, and foster stronger collaboration between the government and private businesses," Domagoso said.
