Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan said he will let President Marcos decide on his leave of absence amid an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in flood control projects.
Bonoan stressed that while accountability is important, his leadership remains vital for overseeing major DPWH programs nationwide.
He confirmed that officials linked to the allegations in the Bulacan district engineering office have been removed as a precautionary measure and placed under the regional office’s custody, which is now managing the district office.
At a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Tuesday, Bonoan revealed that the DPWH is probing supposed “ghost” flood control projects in Bulacan.
Some personnel and contractors may have colluded in the alleged irregularities.
He assured that those found involved will face accountability.
“As soon as we are able to fully document everything and complete the investigation, we will file all the corresponding cases against anyone involved,” Bonoan said.
