MILITARY chief Gen. Romeo Brawner visits wounded soldiers recovering in a government hospital in Zamboanga City.
ZAMBOANGA CITY - Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. visited wounded soldiers at the Camp Navarro General Hospital of the Western Mindanao Command on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
These soldiers were wounded during a recent grenade-throwing incident in Campo Uno, Lamitan City, Basilan and military operations in Jolo, Sulu.
During his visit, Brawner underscored the significance of maintaining troop morale and ensuring that the needs of the soldiers are addressed by higher headquarters.
"It’s normal for us to be on the ground. Just last week, I was in Mindoro to assess the situation and determine how higher headquarters can better support our operations," Brawner said.
The Chief of Staff, together with Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, said that their visit was not solely focused on combat operations but also aimed at reviewing intelligence operations, civil-military engagements, and humanitarian assistance efforts.
"We are also here to prepare for the upcoming major activities related to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections," he added.
