This was after attending a gathering with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Kuwait last Aug. 15.
A post on social media about the “Panaghiusa with VP Sara Duterte” event said that it was supposed to hold a “potluck-style” picnic at the right side of Trocadero, Eiffel Tower.
In videos of the event, the Vice President was seen signing autographs and taking selfies with her supporters.
The Vice President went to Kuwait and Paris ahead of her flight bound to The Hague, Netherlands, where she would visit her detained father and former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Her office earlier stressed that the events attended by the Vice President abroad are privately funded and are aligned with her mandate.
Amid criticisms of her frequent travel abroad, the OVP maintained that it is part of her “mandate to represent and advocate for the welfare of all Filipinos, including those overseas.”
“These official engagements are conducted in full compliance with existing government rules and regulations, ensuring that her presence abroad is both lawful and aligned with her responsibilities in public service,” Duterte’s office earlier said.
“In addition, no public funds are used for all her travels overseas,” it added.
Since March, Duterte had been to The Hague three times, visiting Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, and Kuwait in between.
