A robbery suspect was arrested after police operatives spotted him carrying a firearm in Barangay Unang Sigaw, Quezon City, on Sunday, August 17.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD, the victim was driving his motorcycle along East Service Road on August 12 when three men blocked his path.
One of the suspects, armed with a bladed weapon, declared a hold-up and took the victim’s motorcycle before fleeing with his cohorts.
The incident was immediately reported to the Talipapa Police Station (PS 3).
A follow-up operation was conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU), the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU), and Bagong Barrio Police Sub-Station 5.
During the operation, the suspect, identified as alias "Jayjay," a resident of Barangay Unang Sigaw, was seen carrying a firearm at about 8:11 p.m. at Ilalim ng Tulay on East Service Road. He was immediately arrested.
Police recovered from the suspect an unlicensed .38-caliber revolver loaded with one live ammunition.
The victim later positively identified him as one of the men who robbed him.
Background checks through the Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV) system revealed that the suspect had prior cases for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority) filed in May 2025.
Charges for violation of R.A. 10591 (The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will be filed against the suspect before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office. He will also face charges for robbery and violation of R.A. 10883 (The New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016).
