Man hurts drinking buddy with bottle of gin in Manila

A 20-year-old construction worker was injured after his drinking buddy hit him with a bottle of gin during their drinking session in Barangay 309, Quiapo, Manila on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as alias Ronaldo, 42, also a construction worker.

Based on the police investigation, the victim and the suspect had a heated argument while they were having a drinking session with other workers. This escalated into a fistfight between the two. 

Witnesses said they attempted to pacify the two, but they were ignored by them, forcing the other workers to seek assistance from the barangay.

Upon arriving at the scene, the authorities found the victim lying unconscious and bleeding profusely on the head.

He was quickly rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, where he remains unconscious and under observation due to his injuries.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo voluntarily surrendered to the authorities and admitted that he hit the victim on the head with the bottle of gin as self-defense.

The MPD said the suspect will face charges of frustrated murder.
