Authorities from the Parañaque City Police rescued a Chinese national who was reportedly kidnapped by his compatriots, one of whom was arrested during the conduct of a follow-up operation last Sunday, August 12.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the victim as Wu, 31. He was rescued at around 10:36 a.m. at a condominium lobby along Pacific Drive, Barangay Don Galo, Parañaque City.

One of the four suspects, Zhao, 36, was arrested during the follow-up operation conducted by the police, while the three others remained at large.

The police stated that based on CCTV footage from the condominium building, the victim was seen entering the building with two men and his girlfriend, identified as alias Yan.

The police also said that hours later, the victim was seen at the condominium lobby with a gunshot wound on his left foot. He was brought to the Premiere Medical Center for treatment.

The police recovered several sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and an Alien Certificate of Registration belonging to an alias Cui inside the condominium unit where the victim was held captive.

The police said a follow-up operation at a condominium in Barangay Don Galo led to the arrest of Zhao. Zhao was positively identified by the victim as one of the four who held him captive.

Recovered inside the condominium unit of Zhao were more sachets of suspected shabu, assorted tablets and powder substances, dried marijuana leaves, drug paraphernalia, 131 ammunition, and six 9mm magazines.

Zhao was detained at the Parañaque City Police custodial facility and was charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The police are still conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of the three remaining suspects.
