TACLOBAN CITY -- The Police Regional Office-8 received over P300,000 on Monday from a charity fun run to benefit Philippine National Police personnel facing serious and life-threatening illnesses.
Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, PRO-8 regional director, received the proceeds from the “Alay Takbo Para sa Damayang Otso” on July 26 participated in by 800 runners from the region.
Capoy commended the initiative, calling it a first-of-its-kind effort within the PNP.
He thanked former PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil who initiated the program during his tenure as PRO-8 regional director.
He encouraged PRO-8 personnel to sustain their support for the program.
Damayang Otso has supported a total of 25 personnel from PRO-8.
“Rest assured na habang ako ay nandirito (as long as I am here), PRO-8 will remain committed to supporting charity events,” Capoy said.
