In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Aug. 17, the envoy shared about his meeting with the visiting senator.
“Welcome back to the Philippines, @SenRickScott!,” Carlson wrote. “Your visit underscores the United States' commitment to working #OnHyperdrive with the Philippines to make both our countries #SafeStrongProsperous.”
According to her separate post on Monday, Aug. 18, she held a meeting with Scott and his delegation, sharing photos of them.
“Engaging dialogue with @SenRickScott and delegation and Filipino thought leaders on ways to further strengthen the comprehensive and consequential (US-Philippine) relationship as #FriendsPartnersAllies,” she said.
This was not the first time that Scott visited the Philippines. He was here in 2023, and also met with Carlson, officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.
While here in 2023, the senator received briefings from Filipino and American military leaders related to defense and security in the region, his official website said.
He also visited Camp Aguinaldo, and was briefed on the armed forces patrol missions in the West Philippine Sea.
