STARLINK MINI, available at Data Lake.
One challenge facing a Starlink customer is the presence of anything that can block a satellite signal from space from reaching their dish. Whether that may be a tree or a cluster of clouds, any obstruction can affect the performance and speed of a Starlink internet connection.
To help partially obstructed dishes get reliable service, Starlink recently launched an update to improve their ability to switch from one satellite signal to another in real time, known as beam switching.
While beam switching is already integrated in Starlink’s technology, this new upgrade allows each dish to do this more quickly through an algorithm that adds a new proactive switching mode and reduces the time for reactive switching.
Proactive switching takes place when a dish is stationary, giving it time to create an obstruction map where data from the map will help find a way around the obstruction through a search of alternate satellites.
Meanwhile, reactive switching happens when a Starlink dish is mounted on a moving object like a vehicle or when it experiences an unexpected obstruction that blocks a signal. Such unpredictability is addressed reactively even when it does not have time to form an obstruction map, with a dish now being able to switch satellites in milliseconds for multiple times a minute.
The upgrade of Starlink’s beam switching capabilities comes as SpaceX, Starlink’s parent company, pushes for more launches to add to the network’s more than 8,000 satellites that increase the number of those that can be viewed by each dish.
STARLINK ACTUATED HIGH PERFORMANCE, available at Data Lake.
In the Philippines, Starlink distributor Data Lake Inc. continues to provide services to its customers in ensuring a reliable satellite internet connection.
Residential customers can check for any possible obstructions through the Starlink app while Enterprise clients can do the same through its Data Lake-provided dashboard. Data Lake also offers round-the-clock technical assistance for those facing connection issues while using Starlink, including those related to obstructions.
Customers can ensure that they can still regularly get high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity with this new update from Starlink, in addition to support from Data Lake.
