"As a matter of fact, I already told my staff, my chief-of-staff, na tumulong magpadala dito ng taga Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and pwedeng mag-witness yung mga taga-media (As a matter of fact, I already told my staff, my chief of staff, to help bring in personnel from PDEA, and members of the media may also serve as witnesses)," Tulfo told reporters in an interview.
"Lahat, starting from me hanggang down sa janitor ko, magpapa-drug test kami (Everyone, starting from me down to my janitor, will undergo a drug test)," he added.
Tulfo stated that he's willing to undergo any form of drug testing.
"Para mapakita ko sa taumbayan na malinis kami rito (So I can show the public that we are clean here)," he said.
News reports recently came out accusing Nadia Montenegro, a political officer under the Office of Senator Robinhood Padilla of marijuana use within the Senate premises, prompting several senators to push for random drug testing among its employees, even senators.
Tulfo said that he was surprised when he found out about the incident.
"Bakit dito pa kasi sila mag-marijuana sa Senado? Parang wala namang respeto (Why would they even use marijuana here in the Senate? It’s like they have no respect at all)," he said.
"Tayo nag-iimbestiga ng mga kalokohan, katiwalian tapos dito mayroon pang nagma-marijuana. It's very saddening, nakakalungkot (We’re the ones investigating wrongdoings and corruption, and yet here, someone is using marijuana. It’s very saddening, truly disheartening)," he added.
Tulfo stated that in case one of his staff members tests positive for drug use, they will be immediately removed, "no ifs, no buts."
"Ngayon kapag nakapag-rehab siya, on his or her own, and then magaling na siya, pwede kong tanggapin ko ulit. Walang suspension, tanggal agad (Now, if he or she undergoes rehabilitation on their own, and then fully recovers, I can accept them back. No suspension—immediate dismissal)," he said.
