Phoenix Petroleum joins EV charging fleet through V-Green deal
Independent oil firm Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. announced that it is joining the rise of electric vehicle (EV) fleets through a partnership with V-Green Charging Station Development Philippines Inc.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Monday, Aug. 18, Phoenix said it has inked a deal with V-Green to install EV chargers at select Phoenix gas stations nationwide.
As part of the deal to lease out spaces to V-Green, three Phoenix stations in Luzon have begun constructing charging infrastructure. Phoenix will also conduct site visits in Cebu and Davao for the next phase of its EV charging rollout.
This partnership would also allow more charging points, as well as enable more accessibility for Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Co.’s (GSM) Green GSM EV taxi fleet, which was introduced in the Philippines last June.
V-Green offers 20-kilowatt (kW) to 250-kW public charging stations.
Luu Viet Hung, V-Green Philippines’ chief executive officer (CEO), said that this partnership would further support the rollout of more charging access to keep up with the growing number of EVs in the metro.
“Partnering with Phoenix allows us to reach even more communities and build a nationwide charging network that supports our growing EV fleet,” he said.
In July, V-Green, alongside Green GSM, has partnered with Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) to co-develop solar energy technology for various charging stations, as well as exchange EV expertise and workforce training.
Recently, around 186 EV charging station providers have been accredited by the Department of Energy (DOE). These providers sell, construct, maintain, own, and/or operate these stations nationwide.
As of August, the charging fee of AC EV charging stations (EVCS) has gone up by ₱0.72 to ₱23.27 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), while the DC EVCS charging rate remains at ₱33.76/kWh.
