The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), the country’s leading motorcycle manufacturer and power products provider, have further strengthened their long-standing humanitarian partnership with the turnover of 70 units of 6.5KVA generator sets to support PRC’s disaster response operations nationwide.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, PRC said the latest turnover completes HPI’s pledge of 140 generator sets, following the first batch of 70 units donated in September 2024.
The generators are now deployed to PRC chapters across the country, ensuring uninterrupted power for critical services such as blood bank refrigeration, field hospitals, charging stations, and communication systems—especially during power outages caused by typhoons and the ongoing La Niña phenomenon.
The PRC–Honda alliance spans decades and has been instrumental in emergency response and humanitarian work.
Beyond equipment donations, Honda has supported the Red Cross by providing motorcycles with insulated boxes for blood delivery, specialized rider safety training for PRC drivers, and substantial financial aid—including P2 million for Typhoon Odette relief in 2021 and P1 million for Typhoon Kristine response in 2024.
Together, PRC and Honda have responded to major crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and large-scale natural disasters.
Leaders highlight commitment
PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon praised the strengthened alliance. “This partnership is proof that with the right allies, no community is too far and no challenge is too great,” said Gordon. “Honda has given us the tools, resources, and trust to serve those in need swiftly and effectively,” he added.
HPI President Takeshi Kobayashi also emphasized Honda’s corporate mission under its global banner Together for Tomorrow. “We are proud to stand alongside the Philippine Red Cross in its mission to save lives,” he said. “Under our banner Together for Tomorrow, we aim to be a company that society wants to exist—serving people with the joy of mobility and contributing to a sustainable and safer future,” he added.
PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang, meanwhile, stressed that Honda’s support extends beyond logistics. “Our relationship with Honda goes beyond equipment donations—it’s about building resilience,” she said. “Every motorcycle, every generator, every peso of support has a direct impact on the communities we serve,” she added.
Strengthening humanitarian action
Present at the turnover ceremony were HPI executives led by President Kobayashi, Vice President for Sales and Marketing Jomel Jerezo, and Assistant Vice President for Business Administration Gerry Datario, along with PRC leaders, chapter administrators, staff, and volunteers.
Through this expanded partnership, the PRC and Honda Philippines reaffirm their shared mission of combining corporate responsibility and humanitarian action to save more lives and build stronger, more resilient communities.
As PRC continues to live up to its motto — “Always First, Always Ready, Always There”—its alliance with Honda ensures that vital resources reach Filipinos when and where they are needed most.
