The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Friday, Aug. 15, raided an alleged illegal gaming hub in Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals, including five foreigners.

According to the PNP-CIDG on Aug. 18, the arrested suspects were identified as three Taiwanese men, a Chinese woman, a Myanmar national, and two Filipino women.
A total of 41 other employees of the gaming hub, which will serve as witnesses against the crime, tagged the seven suspects as their employers.
“The witnesses revealed that the company, which is allegedly run and managed by the arrested suspects, hired them as customer service and information technology officers for the computer-related business and services. However, the employees are allegedly tasked to do internet gaming operations instead,” the CIDG said.
The police recovered 59 units of computer monitors, 27 units of desktop computers, 10 computer processor units, information communication technology devices, 25 pieces of pre-registered SIM cards, 227 assorted identification cards, and business documents.
The arrested suspects will face charges for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602 in relation to Executive Order No. 74, Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), and Republic Act No. 8484 (Access Devices Act of 1998).
