ILOILO CITY – Police recently built a new bamboo bridge for residents of a far-flung barangay in Tubungan town, Iloilo province.
The 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company under the Iloilo Police Provincial Office constructed the bridge that would serve Sitio Tambulan in Barangay Mayang.
Police Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, 1st IPMFC commander, mobilized personnel and funding to construct a walkable bridge after realizing the need for a safe and accessible pathway during their community immersion last month.
Barangay officials and residents helped in the construction, an example of the ‘’bayanihan’’ or community cooperation spirit.
“Ako po’y nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng tumulong para matupad ang ganitong proyekto. Sa tingin natin maliit na bagay lang ito, pero alam natin na napakahalaga nito para sa mga residente ng Sitio Tambulan ng Barangay Mayang (I would like to thank everyone who helped make this project possible. We think it's a small thing, but we know it means a lot to the residents of Sitio Tambulan, Barangay Mayang),” said Solis.
