The Quezon City government has vowed to take immediate action against corruption following the arrest of one of its employees in an entrapment operation on Wednesday, August 13.
Authorities said the employee was allegedly caught demanding and receiving money from a business owner in exchange for processing permits and documents.
“Such an action is unacceptable, goes against the values of integrity and public service, and will never be tolerated,” the city government said.
It added that the local government is cooperating with the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in the case and has launched its own probe to determine if other personnel were involved.
Authorities stressed that necessary administrative and legal measures will be undertaken immediately.
Officials also reminded residents and business owners that all transactions for permits and documents are processed online.
“There is also no need to engage with fixers or middlemen, as our processes and permit applications are already 100 percent online,” the city government said.
The public was also urged to report suspicious activities through Helpline 122 or the People’s Corner on the city’s official website.
